NORTH SOUTH
Exciting Changes for the Colt Division from the 2009 Colt Director Carey Rakich
The
3B Board has approved some exciting new changes for the Colt Division. We are
expecting these changes to re-energize the division,
and to expand the number
of teams and players.
Here is a summary of the changes planned:
- Increasing
the number of sponsored players to 8
- Regular Night games
- Elimination
of Saturday games
- Formation of U13 and U14 Tournament teams
- Scheduling
of non-league games with other leagues in the area
- Potential increase in
the number of games to 22
The 3B Board recognizes that the Colt Division
is a transition period in a baseball player's career. The Colt Division
players are all Junior High aged players,
many of whom are interesting in
playing for their High School baseball team. We recognize that the next
summer league is Knothole, where teams are formed
by the coaches and full
baseball rules are in effect. We are making these changes to ease this transition,
and to provide the best opportunity for our players to
be prepared for High
School baseball.
We are planning for the Colt Division to play on
Monday night, Wednesday evening, Friday night, and Sunday evening.
Each team
will play 3 games per week. We are eliminating the games on Saturday for
several reasons. First of all, it allows our Tournament teams to play in
weekend tournaments during the season. Secondly, it allows families to plan
for weekend vacations and getaways without having to miss any league games.
We
have received many comments regarding the Saturday games, and are making these
changes in order to address your concerns.
We are starting to prepare
for
the season right now. I would appreciate your feedback and suggestions. Please
feel free to email me at any time.
Thank you.
